Florida Man phenomenon encapsulates the wildness of both America and the Internet.
At its most insensitive, Florida Man has become an American folk hero.
Local Floridians have to deal with alligators, venomous snakes, seasonless climate, mosquitos and such high humidity that leaves you all wet in a second on a hot day.
It is worth noting that Florida surpassed 20 million residents (third most populated state in US) and has 100 million tourists visiting each year, all crammed into a 20-30 mile wide swath along the coasts and along one fourth where the theme parks are. Cram that many people from that many places together in one place and they’re bound to start ramming into each other’s cars, chasing each other with machetes and arguing over whose dog pooped on whose lawn.
Combine all that with the fact that Florida’s law regarding freedom of press says that every police or court case must be public and you get a „Florida man“ – urban hero not leaving the headlines, always committing weird and dumb crimes.
